Our Custom Tools Manufacturing Process
At Arris, we manufacture a wide range of tool holders that support your CNC machining needs from simple drilling to complex milling. And we recognize that no two processes have the same needs. That is exactly why our tool holders are available across a range of shank tapers, right from industry workhorses like BT and CAT to contemporary solutions like HSK. All of them can be tailored to suit your unique needs.
We design and manufacture all our holders in-house, and every tool holder passes through the following key stages:
Forging
Our workers melt and shape steel-alloy billets into ready-to-machine blanks.
Rough Cutting
Cooled blanks pass through a subtractive process that gives them a basic geometry.
Carburizing
We heat treat every rough-cut tool to increase material hardness, which makes it sturdy enough to handle increased torque levels at high speeds.
Machining
We introduce every heat-treated tool to our 4th and 5th-axis VMC machines. The VMC treatment gives them the required degree of tolerance and surface finish expected of high-end custom tool holders.
Inspecting
Our technicians inspect every holder using precision gauges and a Mahr roughness tester to ensure they meet your quality standards.
Through this process, we build custom tool holders for VMC and CNC machines that deliver Total Indicated Runout (TIR) as low as 0.005 mm. The balance of these holders is as low as G2.5 at 25000 rpm.
